»Performance art had freed me from the difficulty of ›what to paint‹, I was present and I was the work. It is also where I gained the knowledge with which I could come back to painting with myself entering the canvas. This is the way I have painted ever since, creating through the movement of my body in touch with the canvas surface.« Joanna Jones

British artist Joanna Jones has lived and worked in Dover, England since 1997. Since graduating from the Royal Academy Schools, she has received several awards, including first prize at the London 1969 GLC painting competition, a scholarship at Künstlerhaus Schloss Balmoral in Rheinland-Pfalz and an Arts Council England YOTA Award for a projection on the White Cliffs of Dover, both in 2000, as well as the Kent Culture Award for her arts organisation DAD (Dover Arts Development) in 2016.
Together with Edda Salander-Jones, we have created this catalogue for Joanna's paintings with very special pages, shimmering and luminous, the paper has a distinct feel from the very first moment you hold it in your hands.
